There is no “I” in Relatonshp

Here are a few facts about our relationship:

♥ What are your middle names?
M. and D.

♥ How long have you been together?
Dated since July, Engaged since December, Will be married in March.

♥ How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We didn’t know each other before we dated.  I totally picked her up at a party, old school.

♥ Who asked who out?
I asked her out.

♥ How old are each of you?
I am 27, she just turned 26

♥ Whose siblings do/ did you see the most?
So far, it’s kind of 50/50.  Went to my family for Thanksgiving, her family for Christmas.  We’ve seen her parents the most since they are the closest.  If you counted total number of hours spent, her family would win, I think.

♥ Do you have any children together?
No.  First love, THEN marriage, THEN the baby in the baby carriage.

♥ What about pets?
Super-Heck-NO!  I have agreed in principle to a dog some day in the future when we can build it its own house to ruin.  Pets aren’t people.

♥ Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
We haven’t had a long enough time together to have real difficulties.  Sometimes the hardest thing we face is choosing where to go to dinner or what to do that night.  We have been working with a very compressed wedding schedule, so sometimes we look at each other and ask, “what did we talk about before we got engaged?”  But I wouldn’t really call that a difficulty – just a laundry list of to do items.  I’m happy our lives are that simple and happy.

♥ Did you go to the same school?
Yes.  But we didn’t know each other while we went there.  She lived in the Tanner bldg and I lived in the HFAC bldg.  I graduated in ’05 and she graduated in ’06.

♥ Are you from the same home town?
No.  I am from Saint George UT and she is from Bartlesville OK.  We didn’t know each other growing up, and probably wouldn’t have been BFFs or anything.

♥ Who is the smartest?
I think we’re pretty even.  We both have different natural aptitudes.

♥ Who is the most sensitive?
We are sensitive in different ways.  She is more sensitive to other’s thoughts and feelings than I am, but I am more expressive and open than she is.

♥ Where do you eat out most as a couple?
We try to keep it varied.  We really like the Canary Cafe in Addison (Thanks Marissa)

♥ Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
In terms of distance: Utah – In terms of time in a car together: San Antonio/Houston

♥ Who has the worst temper?
Me.

♥ Who does the cooking?
Me.

♥ Who is more social?
It’s close – but me.

♥ Who is the neat freak?
We’re both pretty neat – but I am the freak.

♥ Who is more stubborn?
Me.

♥ Who hogs the bed?
Dunno… we haven’t slept together.

♥ Who wakes up earlier?
She does… BY A LONG SHOT!

♥ Where was your first date?
To see a play (Noises Off) in Fort Worth.  We had dinner beforehand, and had chocolate cake for dessert during the first intermission of the play.  It was a long first date due to the travel time, but we had a great time!

♥ Who has the bigger family?
I have a bigger extended family.  We have the same number of siblings, neices and nephews, though.

♥ Do you get flowers often?
No.  But I try to give them unexpectedly.

♥ How do you spend the holidays?
With family and relaxing.  Enjoying time off.

♥ Who is more jealous?
Me, I think.  But I have yet to see her in this light.

♥ How long did it take to get serious?
3 months

♥ Who eats more?
I can eat almost anyone under the table.

♥ Who does/ did the laundry?
We do our own still.  After we get married, it’ll probably just be whoever gets sick of looking at the dirty clothes pile first.

♥ Who’s better with the computer?
Generally me, but she’s better with spreadsheets and numbers. 🙂

♥ Who drives when you are together?
Me.  She can’t drive a stick shift – still a major sticking point in our relationship.

  1. Nice blog……yup….on the pet issue, just give it some time. I didn’t care for pets, but as the children grew up, we tried to have a dog around and that is what they wanted. One of the children came home with a duck one day and we kept her aroubd for over a year…..quite an expierence for everyone in the family as it kept us all busy cleaning up behind her…..you know, 4 bugs eaten, 7 poopy messes….finally had to take her to and animal farm to live. I wanted to have her for sunday dinner, but got outvoted by the rest of the family. I now have a dog here with me and he a great company. However, I do most of the talking and answer most of the questions but that is the way it is. So there you have it. Love is grand and I suspect that a dog will become part of the family is Aud has any say in the matter.

  2. I didn’t know the Grape has a dog…CRAZY what you learn about people through blogs. Thanks for the insight. I love little things like this because I love getting to know people better.

  3. I still can’t drive a stick shift and Justin and I have been happily married for 10 years…so it will all turn out okay.
