Go G-ayla!

Tomorrow is another big day in my extended family, G-ayla is getting married!  (That’s Gordon+Kayla).

I am so happy for them!!!  Mostly because I really never thought Gordon would ever get a clue.  Don’t get me wrong Gordo, but I thought you’d be playing video games and eating nothing but junk food well into your 40’s.

I’m so glad you guys have finally seen the light and figured out that you were destined to be together after all these years of denying it. (…and not even telling us about your little soirees!  Rude!)

Sadly, because this is the THIRD wedding in my family this year (holy crap!  and still one more to go!), I won’t be attending this one.  I can only stand so many trips out to Utah every year, and this one just didn’t work out.

Bummer 🙁

In spite of that, I want Gayla to know how much I love and support them.  They will make a great married couple.

… And somehow… you’ll make it through tomorrow without me!

Here are some takeaways and expansions on yesterday’s themes:

The Mormon Scouts of America

eaglescout-imageI am an Eagle Scout.

Ever heard of it?

This weekend I had a lively discussion prompted by my new Home Teacher in which we extolled the pros and cons of the Boy Scout program as it is sponsored by our Church.  This prompted an extended conversation afterward with our house guests (thanks for coming McKay and Annie!) about the scouting program.

Which gets me to the question of this blog: Should the Church continue to mandate that each congregation in the United States and Canada sponsor a Boy Scout Troop?

The Solution to the Bagel

Some economists are starting to get antsy for the end of this bagel (recession).  Many are already saying that they see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Many are already saying that by the end of the year we will have an official end to the bagel (positive GDP growth).

Which led me to think… what kind of major event would happen which would stimulate this country’s economy out of such a severe recessional slump?
